We're currently seeking a highly motivated CAD Technician located in Portland, OR .
Position Details:
The CAD Technician position is a short term (6-month) position with the City.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma
Preferred Certification:
- Autodesk Certified Professional
Required Qualifications:
In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of the techniques and nomenclature of civil, mechanical and/or electrical engineering drafting using computers.
- Knowledge of the use and operation of CAD software systems, tools, techniques, and methods.
- Ability to prepare drawings of facilities and construction plans using base maps and other available data.
- Ability to complete a variety of technical support activities including basic engineering computations and geometry.
- Ability to prepare, archive, and retrieve map and drawing information using departmental work procedures.
- Ability to establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
- Experience with local city, county, and state engineering standards.
- Experience in engineering discipline.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine to moderately difficult computer aided drafting (CAD) assignments to create drawings of construction plans for collection system (pipe), green street and surface water restoration projects, using base maps and other data including plans, detailed drawings, site plans, cross sections for alterations of buildings, utilities or structures.
- Update maps with as-built information.
- Plan and organize mapping, records, and CAD work.
- Research, interpret and verify data; reconcile conflicting and/or missing data by reviewing records, maps and making field site visits.
- Reviews and analyzes engineering surveys and records for proper composition of construction drawings.
- Perform a variety of engineering technical duties to support engineering staff, including assisting engineers with research, field inspections, analysis and verification of legal descriptions and other engineering support duties or calculations as assigned.

- Perform detailed work thoroughly, neatly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Perform basic engineering and mathematical computations; utilize specialized drafting,
- engineering, surveying or electronic tools, materials, and equipment.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with bureau management and staff,
- contractors and others encountered in the course of work.
- Learn and interpret codes, rules, regulations, and policies and apply these to a variety of
- customer requests.
- Interpret and explain both orally and in writing technical information to the public, specifically
- City Codes, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Search and obtain information from such documents as engineering or architectural
- drawings, regulations, reports, application forms, manuals, property records, plans,
- specifications and various kinds of maps, graphs, and construction plans; gather, record, and
- analyze data to prepare technical reports, documents, and recommendations.
- Operate a variety of computer software programs to record and analyze data, maintain
- technical files, and prepare maps, plans, records, graphics, documents, and reports.
- Draft line drawings, update maps, plot graphs and prepare display materials.
- Provide effective customer service through a variety of communications methods, including
- presenting and conducting meetings with the public in support of assigned projects or
- programs.
Salary:
- $35.00 - $39.00 Per hour
Bonus Pay:
A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management's discretion.
