We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician with a strong background in agricultural environments, specifically with anaerobic digester systems on dairy farms.
This role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems supporting biogas digesters, dairy equipment, pumps, control panels, and other farm infrastructure.
Job duties:
-Install, test, and maintain electrical systems for anaerobic digesters and dairy operations, including power distribution, motors, PLCs, and control systems
-Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and installation manuals
-Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of electrical issues across agricultural equipment and digester systems
-Install and wire motor controls, VFDs, sensors, and automated systems used in farm-based energy systems
-Ensure all work complies with local and national electrical codes and safety standards
-Work with farm management, engineers, and other trades to meet project timelines and operational needs
-Conduct preventive maintenance and provide emergency repairs as needed
Schedule is 40+ hours per week. pay rate is $40/hr. Travelers will receive $50 day per diem and housing provided.
Requirements:
-Valid Journeyman Electrician License (State of Virginial)
-Minimum 3-5 years of experience in agricultural electrical systems
-Prior hands-on experience with anaerobic digesters, biogas systems, or waste-to-energy projects
-Proficient in working with 480V/3-phase power, motors, and control systems
-Strong knowledge of NEC codes and electrical safety practices
-Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team
-Comfortable working in outdoor and livestock-heavy environments
-Experience with SCADA systems, PLC programming, or automation in agricultural settings
-Familiarity with dairy farm operations, including manure handling systems, pumps, and ventilation controls
-OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, or CPR/First Aid certifications
-Basic mechanical knowledge (pumps, hydraulics, compressors)
