This position will service multiple buildings at Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport working 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 06:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Position Purpose: This position, under minimal supervision, has a strong focus on performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment on all Mechanical Systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical expertise in HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Maintaining and repairing air handling units, exhaust fans, fume hoods, fan coil units, reheat coils, and other associated mechanical equipment. Troubleshoot customer service calls for temperature control inside the buildings. Monitor the operation and perform adjustments on refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, hot water systems, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment, boilers, heating and ventilating equipment, domestic water heaters, ice makers, pumps, valves, piping and filters, other mechanical equipment, record readings and perform adjustments where necessary to assure proper operation of equipment. Analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems / malfunctions, and make recommendations to management on the corrective action as required. Performs preventive maintenance on all HVAC system equipment. Conduct immediate clean-up of work area, returning tools to workshop, and unused supplies to storeroom. Report any equipment problems, impending supply, or material shortages. Maintains tools and orders supplies as required for installation and repairs. Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Daily input of required data in MAXIMO (CMMS system) for repair ticket processing, machine reliability and control. Any/other duties as assigned Education and Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required, 5 years of commercial HVAC experience in a service role, HVAC certificate from licensed trade school or military equivalent, Universal EPA 608 certification, Boiler License or EPA certification is a plus, knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes, possess valid OSHA approved lift operator certification, and possess valid drivers license. Other Requirements: Must be able to read schematics and blueprints. Must be able to pass comprehensive background and drug screening. Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines as needed. Must have demonstrated working knowledge of mechanical systems and their integration devices used. A working knowledge of PC based Microsoft office. Experience with Maximo, a computerized maintenance management software relevant to spare parts management, work order creation, and preventive maintenance preferred. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis; prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching daily; and working in confined spaces. Requires a full range of physical motion to operate manual and electrically powered tools and electrical test equipment, to move throughout campus, including climbing stairs in all buildings, and to work at heights. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, occasionally in environments that are dusty, noisy, or which could have work hazards.
