About The Position

This role will be responsible for leading the mechanical engineering efforts across a range of space flight systems, including our Lunar Lander, Lunar Terrain Vehicles, Payloads, and other advanced spacecraft platforms. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership throughout the hardware development lifecycle—from concept and design through analysis, integration, and test. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise and a proven track record in developing complex aerospace systems.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, testing, and integration of mechanical components and systems including landers, robotic systems, payloads, etc.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, electrical engineering, and manufacturing, to define requirements and specifications
• Create prototypes, R&D models, and test articles to validate design concepts and performance characteristics
• Plan and oversee mechanical tests and evaluations, analyze test data, and make recommendations for design improvements
• Work closely with test engineers and technicians to ensure testing objectives are met efficiently and accurately
• Prepare technical reports, design reviews, and presentations to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external partners
• Maintain accurate documentation of design changes, revisions, and design history throughout the product lifecycle.

General Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry
• 7+ years of CAD software experience, preferably CREO
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to aerospace design (e.g., ASME, NASA standards)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
