The Manager, Construction & Deferred Maintenance Projects reports to the Director, Facilities Management and leads and oversees deferred maintenance and construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with institutional goals. Acting as the primary point of contact between the college and external partners, this role ensures effective coordination, compliance with regulations, and successful execution throughout the project lifecycle.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Oversees deferred maintenance projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion of repairs and upgrades across campus buildings.
  • Develops and manages project schedules for maintenance work, ensuring all tasks are completed within budget and on time.
  • Collaborates with maintenance staff and contractors to plan, coordinate, and execute maintenance tasks, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems.
  • Reviews and approves invoices from contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors related to maintenance work.
  • Ensures all projects comply with building codes, safety regulations, and College policies and procedures.
  • Conducts periodic inspections of campus facilities to identify maintenance needs and prioritize deferred maintenance issues.
  • Prepares and manages project budgets, providing updates to leadership on project status and financial performance.
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure resources and space are allocated efficiently for ongoing maintenance and repairs.
  • Tracks and reports on the progress of deferred maintenance projects, adjusting timelines and resources as needed.
  • Coordinates with the Project Management Office and follows the project management framework.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to perform the job effectively.

  • A bachelors degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities management, construction management, project management, or maintenance project oversight is required.
  • Experience managing deferred maintenance projects, including building system repairs, infrastructure upgrades, and capital improvements, is required.
  • PMP Certification is preferred
  • Experience working in an institutional or higher education setting is a plus.

  • Excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders at all levels to ensure project alignment and successful outcomes.

Compensation: $64,500.00 - $79,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience.
