SPECIAL EDUCATION SITE COORDINATOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field
  • Maine Department of Education Certification #282, #030, #035, #045 or equivalent
  • Relevant experience in Special Education, teaching, and organizational planning
  • Working knowledge of Special Education Law and IEP, 504, and RTI requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and families
  • Professional, cooperative, and respectful of the beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others

RESPONSIBILITES:

Reporting to the Director & Assistant Director of Special Services, the duties will include, but not limited to, the following guidelines:

  • Serve as the primary contact for case managers and staff regarding current issues in special education; provide support to Special Education Teachers.
  • Collaborate and communicate with special education case managers and school staff;
  • Oversee the IEP and RTI processes;
  • Manage all documentation, paperwork, and data collection in collaboration with case managers to ensure
  • compliance of state and federal mandates;
  • Monitor case manager compliance for IEPs, evaluations, and paperwork timelines;
  • Attend and serve as designated administrator for annual and triennial IEP meetings (shared with administrator) and others as assigned by directors.
  • Write and draft written notices to be reviewed and submitted by the case managers, obtain consents and
  • releases to maintain compliant special education records and meetings attended;
  • Assist with scheduling of IEP meetings in collaboration with secretarial staff at their grade level span (K-5 or 6-12);
  • Consult on a regular basis with Director and Assistant Directors for Special Services ;
  • Oversee Special Education Programing in conjunction with Building/District Administrators
  • Other duties as assigned by Building Administrators, Director and/or Assistant Director of Special Services
