**The Opportunity**

We are looking for a candidate who will be part of the Architecture team within the EY Client Technology's Engineering Architecture Practice. The candidate will be responsible for defining and delivering architectures and designs for business-critical global products and platforms, with focus on scalable distributed systems, cloud-native solutions, modern enterprise architectures, and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) enterprise implementations. You'll architect solutions hosted in a variety of infrastructure/environments considering reusability, scalability, reliability, and modern design patterns in alignment with EY's mission and strategy. As an architect, you'll embody the principles of the architecture elevator - connecting strategic business vision with hands-on technical implementation while bridging the gap between executive leadership and engineering teams.

**Your Key Responsibilities**

+ Build relationships across the business to understand their requirements, strategy and help them build product/platform roadmaps, demonstrate architecture leadership to translate business requirements into architecture blueprints, as well as innovative and practical design (both high and low level) incorporating modern distributed systems patterns, microservices architectures, cloud-native solutions, and comprehensive AEM-based digital experience platforms.

+ Own the overall technology, architecture and design landscape of products/platforms from solutioning to delivery to adoption and sale phases, with deep understanding of distributed systems, containerization, orchestration platforms, enterprise security patterns, and AEM ecosystem including OSGi framework, Apache Sling, JCR repository, and AEM Cloud Service architectures.

+ Design and implement enterprise-scale distributed solutions using modern protocols and frameworks, with expertise in web APIs (REST, GraphQL), containerization with Kubernetes, event-driven architectures, robust access control mechanisms using Auth 2.0/OpenID Connect, and advanced AEM backend systems including custom OSGi services, Sling models, JCR optimization, and multi-site management implementations to create scalable systems that can operate at enterprise scale.

+ Set the overall technology and architecture direction and own its end-to-end delivery in a lead architect's capacity, while providing constant architecture governance and guidance. Act as the critical glue between Engineering, Product Management, and Operations teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment across all stakeholders, particularly in complex AEM multi-site implementations and headless content delivery architectures.

+ Solve complex problems in realms where scalable solutions may not currently exist, necessitating the ideation and incubation of new distributed system approaches, modern architectural patterns, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative AEM customizations including custom workflow processes, advanced dispatcher configurations, and integration with external systems. Conduct technical feasibility assessments, buy/build analysis for platforms, vendor product evaluations, proof of concepts (with hands-on development) and present various solution options to the business with appropriate recommendations.

**Skills and attributes for Success**

Led and governed global engineering teams and architects, driving the technology and architecture landscape of large and complex portfolios of products/solutions/projects, including large-scale AEM implementations serving hundreds of thousands of users, achieving measurable success in implementation and enterprise adoption. Demonstrated experience as an architecture elevator, connecting strategic business vision with hands-on technical execution. Expert-level proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages with 10+ years of professional experience in Java, C# or JavaScript, including XML, plus advanced expertise in AEM backend development including OSGi services, Sling models, and JCR programming.

+ Advanced OSGi Expertise: Dynamic service management, service trackers, Declarative Services annotations, configuration administration, and custom component development.

+ Advanced Sling Framework Knowledge: Resource merging and filtering, context-aware configurations, asynchronous job handling, and complex Sling model implementations.

+ Advanced JCR Repository Management: Custom node types, versioning systems, access control lists, clustering configurations, and performance optimization for large repositories.

+ Advanced Workflows: Custom workflow steps and launchers, metadata handling, external system integration, and custom notification systems.

+ Advanced Dispatcher: Dynamic content caching strategies, filtering configurations, selective cache invalidation, security hardening, and log analysis.

+ Advanced Multi-Site Management (MSM): Custom rollout actions, blueprint configurations, live copy synchronization, and programmatic MSM API usage.

+ Advanced Performance Optimization: Query optimization, multi-level caching strategies, memory and thread management, and profiling tools for bottleneck identification.

+ Advanced Security: Custom authentication handlers, role-based access control, encryption APIs, security audits, and vulnerability prevention.

+ Advanced Integration: External system connectivity via REST/SOAP/GraphQL, third-party API services, bi-directional data synchronization, and event-driven architectures.

+ Advanced APIs: Custom REST and GraphQL API development, security implementation, documentation with Swagger/OpenAPI, and versioning strategies.

+ Advanced Deployment and DevOps: CI/CD pipeline setup, Infrastructure as Code, Adobe Cloud Manager, AEM as a Cloud Service practices, and rollback strategies.

+ Advanced Testing: Comprehensive testing including unit, integration, performance, and automated UI testing with coverage measurement.

+ Advanced Customizations: Complex workflow processes, custom replication agents, event listeners, schedulers, and global error handling.

+ Advanced Monitoring and Logging: Log analysis with enterprise tools, custom health checks, monitoring dashboards, alerting systems, and audit logging.

+ Real-World Scenarios: Large-scale implementations, migration projects, headless delivery, multi-tenant configurations, and disaster recovery planning.

+ Advanced Tools and Frameworks: Mastery of development tools, custom Maven archetypes, Docker environments, AEM CLI automation, and custom tooling development.

**And should have:**

+ Comprehensive AEM integration patterns including headless content delivery, external system integration, and custom API development.

+ Architecture leadership skills with advanced understanding and practical experience in modern architecture patterns, with proven track record in complex, large-scale implementations serving user bases in the hundreds of thousands or more across the entire product lifecycle from development to deployment to monitoring and governance,

+ Hands-on deep experience in architecture including application integration, cloud infrastructure architecture, data pipelines, security architectures, and successful delivery of both functional and non-functional aspects of platforms using cloud-native services, full-stack applications, DevSecOps, security practices, automated deployment pipelines

+ Deep understanding of distributed system architectures, multi-service systems, API gateway patterns, and the ability to design scalable systems that can handle complex enterprise workloads with proper load balancing, caching strategies, and fault tolerance across enterprise environments

+ Expert knowledge of data management including relational and NoSQL databases, data streaming platforms, real-time data processing, data governance, platform lifecycle management, A/B testing strategies, performance monitoring,

+ Strong background in security best practices, enterprise compliance requirements, regulatory standards in enterprise environments

+ Demonstrated passion for AI technologies and their potential to transform enterprise solutions, with eagerness to stay current with AI advancements and integrate them thoughtfully into architectural decisions

+ Strong background in modern software architecture patterns including event-driven architectures, data streaming, real-time processing, microservices-based platforms

**Ideally, You'll Also Have**

+ Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Mathematics, or related technical field.

+ 10+ years overall IT industry experience with CMS, with 5+ years specifically in architect roles, including experience with enterprise platform implementations, distributed system deployments, leading cross-functional engineering teams, and 5+ years of hands-on AEM architecture and development experience with large-scale implementations.

+ Achieved one or more relevant certifications Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) in AEM Sites and/or AEM Assets.

+ Experience with modern development frameworks and tools such as container orchestration platforms, API management tools, service mesh technologies, distributed systems development ecosystems, and AEM-specific tooling including AEM Developer Tools, Maven archetypes, Docker for AEM, and AEM CLI.

+ Thought leadership in technology - presenting ideas, products, and concept papers to varied audiences, building technology points of view and presenting them in industry forums/events, contributing to open-source projects, and active participation in

+ Adobe Experience Manager community and conferences.

+ Experience in designing and implementing business use-cases using low-code/no-code platforms, data reporting, data management and governance technologies, mobile applications, deep cloud security concepts, and AEM-based digital experience solutions including headless content delivery, progressive web applications, and omnichannel experiences. Knowledge of AI/ML technologies including Model Context Protocol (MCP), Google Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication, and their integration into enterprise systems is highly preferred but not required.

+ Experience in designing and implementing AI-powered business use-cases using low-code/no-code AI platforms, conversational AI, AI-powered data reporting, AI governance technologies, AI-enhanced mobile applications, and intelligent content management systems built on AEM with personalization and automated content workflows.

+ Knowledge of enterprise security including Auth 2.0/OpenID Connect implementation, API security, container security, secure deployment practices, and comprehensive understanding of AEM security architecture including SAML integration, custom authentication providers, and secure content delivery networks.

+ We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where youll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $111,100 to $207,800. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $133,300 to $236,100. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
