The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operations and maintenance of all facilities within the organization. This role ensures that buildings, grounds, and equipment are maintained in a safe, functional, and efficient condition. The Facilities Supervisor acts as the primary point of contact for all facility-related matters, managing projects, budgets, and personnel to achieve organizational goals. This position requires a strong understanding of facility management principles and safety regulations, as well as possessing exceptional organizational skills.

This class is considered essential personnel and employees assigned to this class as designated by management MUST be available during emergencies as their work directly supports efforts to maintain and to help support building operational safety.

Oversee the daily operations of facilities, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Assist in construction contracts, which may include reviewing and approving contractor payments; monitoring work status; issuing contracts; processing change orders; certifying project completion; processing project submittals; conducting project progress meetings; responding to contractors requests for clarification; opening project bids; conducting pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.

Assist in coordination of County maintenance staff and contractors, ensuring work is completed to high standards and timelines.

Conduct regular inspections of Sheriffs facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and areas for improvement. Document findings, propose solutions, and perform necessary repairs and maintenance tasks as required.

Develop and implement a plan to oversee and ensure adherence to the County's existing preventative maintenance programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other essential infrastructure.

Serve as a liaison between departments to understand their facility needs and provide support in resolving issues.

Respond to emergencies and coordinate safety protocols, ensuring the welfare of all personnel in potential crisis situations.

Operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment in performing repair and maintenance activities.

Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) with one year or more experience or knowledge in Facility Management, Construction Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licensing Requirements
Valid Drivers License.

Knowledge of (position requirements at entry):
  • Basic understanding of facility management concepts and practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant Federal, State, and local laws, codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Basic understanding of budgeting and financial management principles.
  • Awareness of project management processes and techniques.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and repair practices for various building systems and equipment.

  • Capability of building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with staff, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects, utilizing strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Monitoring activities in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Collecting, organizing, and presenting complex technical data.
  • Using computers and related software applications.
  • Proofreading and editing documents; preparing complex correspondence, memos, vouchers, and other related information; and maintaining complex, sensitive, and confidential documents, records, and files.


Physical Requirements :
Positions in this class typically require: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, speaking, hearing, seeing, finger and hand dexterity, as well as repetitive motions.

Heavy Work:
Lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, and 20 to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
