PLANNING PROJECT MANAGER: The Planning Project Manager oversees planning and design projects from inception to completion. This role is responsible for developing project plans, defining project scope and deliverables, managing budgets and resources, and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams. The Planning Project Manager ensures high-quality, timely project execution and serves as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with 8+ years of relevant professional experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Lead and manage planning projects of various scopes and scales for both public and private sector clients.
  • Prepare plans, renderings, graphics, reports, and projections aligned with company standards, regulatory guidelines, and client needs.
  • Consult with clients to define project requirements and provide recommendations on design, materials, costs, and timelines.
  • Coordinate internal and external teams, including consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure quality assurance, perform progress reporting, and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Support business development by attending public meetings, participating in civic organizations, and representing the firm at community events.
  • Conduct research, compile data, and assist in the preparation of planning and landscape architectural materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Planning Project Manager leads planning and design projects from concept to completion for public and private clients. This role blends project management and individual contributor work and may include leading other employees. Responsibilities include developing project plans, managing budgets and schedules, coordinating teams, preparing graphics and reports, and engaging with clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Professional degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related field from an accredited college or university with 8+ years of working experience in planning, urban design or landscape architectural field required. Project Manager experience required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Landscape Architecture license and/or AICP accredited are strongly encouraged.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebraic functions and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Rhino/Lumion/Enscape/Sketchup, Photoshop, In Design, ESRI GIS, AutoCAD, and MS Office software.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess valid driver license.
