SUMMARY: The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor c oordinates shift activities of the mechanical personnel engaged in the setting up, repairing and maintenance of machinery and associated equipment. The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor develops and/or maintains systems regarding the mechanical management of the production lines to ensure a safe, efficient and flexible department that meets both internal and external customer's expectations. They must be the site leader in living and driving the Company Core Values and High-Performance Work Culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all Lockout/Tagout, Right-to-Know and Emergency Evacuation Training.

as well as for the annual Lockout/Tagout Audits of department equipment with 100%

accuracy.

  • Responsible for executing efficient and effective PM generated work orders which addresses the

maintenance, repair and documentation of work for all can making machinery and associated equipment.

  • Responsible for communication with the Mechanical Maintenance Manager and all departments including Operations, Facilities, Scheduling & Engineering concerning all necessary work orders; machine repair and line changeovers.
  • Directly responsible for all shift related administrative issues concerning personnel for

attendance tracking, vacation use and tracking, daily work schedule and job assignments.

  • Responsible for recommending machinery modifications to the Mechanical Maintenance Manager.
  • Must proactively seek improvements in existing machinery and production processes
  • Maintain tooling location and accountability systems.
  • Ensure all proper and required machinery lubrications and preventive maintenance are

being completed and documented when assigned.

  • Responsible for training of all shift’s mechanical employees, including development, administration, and planning of training in coordination with the Mechanical Maintenance Manager. This includes the apprenticeship program ensuring each employee under Supervisors direction is on track towards completion of program.
  • FOOD SAFETY-Follow Company personnel and product safety requirements including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs. This includes the effective maintenance and enforcement of the requirements contained in the SQF Food Safety Management system. An integral member of the Food Safety Team
  • All other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly manage employees assigned as Mechanics and Maintainers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have a college degree; or at least ten years related hands-on experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL AND TECHNICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, rate and percentage. Must be competent with standard quality control testing equipment and basic computer skills.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and electricity. The employee is exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
