HTI is assisting a well-established manufacturing company in North Augusta, SC with their search for a Product Development/Design Engineer. This is a great fit for someone who is curious, innovative, and enjoys problem solving! The position is a full-time, direct hire, salaried role, with room for growth and quick advancement. Salary range is approximately $75,000 - $90,000 / year, depending on education and experience.

Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Engineering or Materials Science

Must have 3+ years of product development, prototyping, and manufacturing industry experience

Proficient in AutoCAD software

Experience in prototyping and hands-on shop work

Strong communication and organizational skills

Self-motivated, team player, enjoys problem solving and hands-on product development

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship

Preferred:

Experience with a manufacturing company that designs and produces products made from heavy duty fabrics, specialty textiles and and/or flexible plastics

Materials used: Vinyl coated polyester, urethane coated polyester or nylon, woven acrylic, plastic films/fabrics, PVC, polyurethane, etc.

Products include: Equipment covers, hazmat/spill containment applications, storage, shades, etc.

Manufacturing processes used: RF (radio frequency) sealing and industrial sewing

Process improvement, time study, and Lean/Six Sigma experience strongly preferred

Local candidates within commuting distance of North Augusta, SC/Augusta, GA

Job Duties include:

Design and develop new products based on customer specifications and needs, from concept through production

Utilize AutoCAD software to create detailed engineering drawings

Prototype and test new designs, ensuring they meet all functional and safety requirements

Coordinate new product design, prototyping, and manufacturing with the Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and Production teams

Provide technical support and training to production staff

Conduct time studies and analyze manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement

Assist with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to optimize efficiency and reduce waste

Develop and document new processes to enhance product quality and production speed

Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the production process

Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation and reports

Occasional travel within the region as needed (less than 20%)
