Job Purpose:

The Production Supervisor will coordinate production department activities and special projects. He/she will supervise team in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

  • Maintain adherence to all safety guidelines.
  • Review safety performance and provide corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through active promotion of HL Mando Quality Policy.
  • Assure that department is following established Procedures/Work Instructions/etc.
  • Assure that all prescribed records and documents are properly completed and maintained.
  • Review Quality performance and provide corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Accomplish 100% on-time delivery through effective daily and weekly production requirements planning. Work closely with Master Scheduler to ensure proper planning and prioritizing.
  • Achieve daily production needs by coordinating resources and prioritizing tasks. This is to be accomplished with the best utilization of manpower to minimize man-hours per unit and minimize overtime.
  • Foster a proper working environment through fair, consistent, and respectful treatment of employees; also guiding and expecting same actions from Team Leader position. Resolve employee relation issues through effective remediation techniques.
  • Utilize Human Resources team and/or Manufacturing/Plant Manager to assist in solving unresolved work-related issues.
  • Conduct various skills assessments and performance evaluations for assigned employees. Establish employee goals.
  • Develop/strengthen Production team through proper training, coaching, and guidance.
  • Train employees on Procedures, Methods, Quality Requirements, Safety, etc.
  • Drive 5S and housekeeping activities to achieve and maintain excellence.
  • Ensure participation by all team members in continual improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Actively promote Lean Manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Monitor resource availability and needs for Production department.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling to include: work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, overtime assignment, and back-up for absenteeism.
  • Manage time and attendance accuracy for Production department.
  • Review, report, and assess daily cell performance and other assigned metrics as appropriate.
  • Maintain prompt and effective communication to Production group, appropriate support groups and Management.
  • Provide leadership to team:
    • Work to develop positive attitude on shop floor.
    • Work to foster a culture of ownership, passion, and a sense of urgency on shop floor.
    • Instill mindset of teamwork and cooperation among team members and other departments.
    • Lead by example.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Previous leadership experience (i.e. Team Leader). Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Technical Competencies:

  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
  • Basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Strong math skills.
  • Proven mechanical ability.
  • Visual acuity to read prints, drawings, work instructions, and machine displays, and to monitor product quality.
  • Manual dexterity for operating control panels, handling small parts, and using hand tools.

Non-Technical Competencies:

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervisor has direct supervisory responsibility over assigned Production Team Members. In many cases, he/she will utilize the Team Leader position to assist with basic day-to-day operations.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily based in a machining production environment with exposure to machinery, cutting fluids, lubricants and noise.
  • Regular exposure to moderate to high noise levels; hearing protection is required.
  • May be exposed to varying temperatures depending on seasonal conditions and plant ventilation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, steel-toed or composite-toed shoes, hearing protection and gloves as appropriate.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours per shift).
  • Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching and lifting of materials and tools as needed (typically up to 25 lbs., occasionally up to 50 lbs.)
  • Must be able to observe and inspect machinery, parts, and work areas, sometimes in awkward positions or confined spaces.
  • Ability to climb stairs or ladders to access elevated areas or platforms.
  • Visual acuity to read prints, drawings, and machine displays, and to monitor product quality.
  • Manual dexterity for operating control panels, handling small parts, and using hand tools.

Remote Work:

Not Eligible for Hybrid/Remote Work Schedule
