This Position reports to:

Engineering Manager I

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects.

This role is contributing to the support and troubleshooting of engineering issues related to Low and Medium Voltage Circuit Breakers, Motor Control Centers, and associated equipment. This role serves as the main technical contact for cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Proposals, Production, Testing, and Customer. The Project Engineer will be deeply involved in design reviews, technical problem-solving on the shop floor, and validation/testing activities. A key part of the role includes the ability to understand competitor designs and develop ABB-based solutions to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary technical contact for cross-functional teams (Supply Chain, Proposals, Production, Testing, Field Services, and Customers).

  • Provide real-time engineering support on the shop floor, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions for technical issues.

  • Support and actively participate in testing activities for Low and Medium Voltage circuit breakers, and related components in the factory testing laboratory.

  • Analyze third-party or legacy designs and recommend retrofit solutions using ABB components or systems.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical solutions for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Apply knowledge of automation and programming (e.g., PLCs, control schemes) to support functional testing and troubleshooting.

  • Contribute to risk identification and mitigation throughout project execution.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related field

  • 35 years of experience in a manufacturing or factory environment, with strong exposure to LV/MV equipment.

  • Experience with product development and R&D processes.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, sheet metal design, and enclosure systems.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SAP, and technical documentation tools.

  • Familiarity with electrical standards (ANSI, IEC, UL).

  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and technical standards.

  • Experience working in a factory environment or close collaboration with production teams.

  • Open to sponsorship.
