The O pportunity

Our US Gas Operations Upland Prairie team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Kansas to support the operation and maintenance of our natural gas pipelines and associated facilities throughout Meade and the surrounding area.

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician who possesses knowledge and experience of high-pressure natural gas pipeline and gas storage systems, to include turbine engine compressors. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.

What youll do

  • Troubleshoot, operate and maintain gas-fired turbine engines, gas compressors, standby generator engines, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps, low pressure boilers, oil coolers, air compressors, large-bank cooler fans and gear boxes, large diameter valves and operators, and other auxiliary equipment
  • Operate compressor engines and support equipment
  • Maintain and repair pipeline
  • Operate and maintain valves and operators
  • Inspect, repair and set regulators and relief valves
  • Blow down, purge and pressurize pipelines and/or stations
  • Storage field facility operations and maintenance
  • Perform line locates on company pipelines and/or utility line patrols and associated ROW maintenance
  • Plan, coordinate and perform mechanical maintenance activities, to include routine corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment and system improvements and major maintenance projects
  • Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP
  • Conduct periodic resistivity and potential surveys on pipelines, compressor stations, and measurement and regulation facilities to determine corrosive areas and record performance of cathodic protection systems
  • Other tasks as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant oil and gas industry experience
  • Understand and describe the operation of a 4-cycle combustion engine
  • 3 years mechanical experience with internal combustion engines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting turbine engines
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engines, centrifugal gas compressors, and standby generators
  • Experience with gas turbine engines
  • Industrial experience in a plant environment
  • Knowledge and experience in cathodic protection systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to conduct surveys and inspections to assess the effectiveness of cathodic protection systems.
  • Proficiency in using equipment and tools related to cathodic protection, such as voltmeters, reference electrodes, and data loggers.
  • Understanding of industry standards and regulations related to cathodic protection.
  • Capability to interpret technical drawings and specifications related to cathodic protection systems.
  • Experience in preparing reports and documentation for cathodic protection activities

This position requires candidates to

  • Have and maintain a valid drivers license and safe driving record
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and extended workdays and/or workweeks for emergency response purposes
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
  • Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures, heavy lifting (50 pounds), and cramped conditions
