J.D. Hair & Associates (JDH&A) is an engineering firm that specializes in trenchless engineering and design services with headquarters located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Trenchless engineering is most closely aligned with civil engineering and is associated with construction methods such as horizontal directional drilling (HDD), microtunneling, Direct Pipe, and conventional auger boring. Trenchless construction is routinely used to install pipelines and utilities where minimal surface disruption is necessary or when conventional trenching is not practical. Founded in 1987, JDH&A was one of the first trenchless-focused engineering firms and has since been involved in some of the most significant and challenging trenchless projects ever completed. JDH&A remains a recognized leader in the specialized field of trenchless engineering and design. Our team is growing and seeking experienced CAD specialists to join our staff.
JDH&A is a wholly owned subsidiary of Michels Corporation, a global leader in trenchless infrastructure construction. Michels Corporation is one of the largest and most diversified contractors in North America and is an industry leader in various utility and civil infrastructure sectors.
The Design Engineer, under general supervision works with our highly skilled senior engineering staff and CAD technicians to develop design submittals for deep foundation and ground improvement systems to be built by Michels Construction. Design submittals will consist of drawings and supporting calculations developed by applying geotechnical and structural engineering principles through a combination of analytical methods and state-of-the-art computer modeling software. Types of design may include, but are not limited to, rigid inclusions, aggregate piers, soil mixing, compaction grouting, chemical grouting, and dynamic compaction. You may also occasionally be asked to assist with designs for deep foundations or other Geostructural systems. Michels works on all types and sizes of projects, including commercial buildings, highways and bridges, industrial facilities, civil infrastructure, marine structures, and military facilities. As design engineer, you will also be involved with preliminary engineering for prospective projects during bid-time, and with QA/QC review during production phases. Critical for success are strong attention to detail and effective oral and written communication skills.
