Saw Operator**

**Job Description**

As a Saw Operator, you will tend to fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, horizontal saws, vertical saws, and cold cut saws. Your role involves cutting bars, sheets, and tubes by performing various duties essential to the fabrication process.

**Responsibilities**

+ Read job specifications to determine machine set-up and program.

+ Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.

+ Position workpieces properly into machinery, against stops, or align layout marks with die or blade.

+ Use overhead crane to unload trucks and position material into storage location.

+ Mark and identify material as specified by work instructions.

+ Set up and operate machines to cut parts preparatory to machining centers and assembly.

+ Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.

+ Measure workpiece dimensions to determine the accuracy of machine operation.

+ Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces.

+ Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines or workpieces.

+ Operate cutting equipment including CNC band saws, manual band saws, circular cutting saws, cold cut saws, table saws, and sanding disks.

+ Show adequate progress towards learning the operation of all the machinery in the fabrication area.

+ Look for continuous improvement opportunities and improve operational efficiencies.

+ Responsible for checking the accuracy of engineering, sales, and manufacturing offices' input to ensure customer final product is correct and within quality acceptance guidelines.

+ Understand, support, implement, and sustain 5S program initiatives and goals.

+ Be flexible in working areas and be assigned to other duties and work areas as needed.

+ Support and uphold the quality and EHS policy.

**Essential Skills**

+ Experience with CNC machines, bandsaws, and circular saws.

+ Ability to read blueprints and job specifications.

+ Experience with overhead crane operations.

+ Preventive maintenance skills.

+ Minimum 6 months experience as a Saw Operator.

+ Minimum 6 months experience in blueprint reading.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ One-year certificate from college or technical school, or three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

+ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

+ Effective communication skills for speaking before groups of customers or employees.

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $58240.00/yr.
