Operator I: Grade 10 - ($20.95 - $28.26 DOQ) - High school graduate or equivalent. Must possess a valid Utah driver's license.
Certification Requirements:
Utah Grade I Certified Wastewater Collections Operator within twelve (12) months of hire date.
Valid Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement within six (6) months of hire date.
Operator II: Grade 12 - ($23.05 - $32.34 DOQ) - High school graduate or equivalent. Must possess a valid Utah driver's license. Must have two (2) years of experience as a Storm Water Operator I.
Certification Requirements:
Utah Grade II Certified Wastewater Collections Operator (Unrestricted, according to R317-10) as of hire date.
Valid Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement within six (6) months of hire date.
NASSCO Certificate within six (6) months of hire date.
Traffic Control Technician Certificate within twelve (12) months of hire date.
Confined Space certification within twelve (12) months of hire date.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Problem analysis and decision-making, time management, leadership, and interpersonal sensitivity.
Training and experience in trench excavation and shoring work practices and procedures.
Operations of various computer programs.

Description:
Under the direction of the Wastewater/Storm Water Collections Superintendent and Storm Water Lead Operator, this position assists maintaining, repairing, and inspecting, the storm water and sewer collection systems. Operates heavy equipment and hand tools. Maintains required certifications in sewer/storm water collections.
Duties:
Assists in the safe removal of storm water and sewer blockages, and follows a preventative maintenance program.
Assists with the installation and/or repair of the storm water and sewer pipelines and related structures.
Operates JET-VAC combo truck, sweeper, CCTV equipment, backhoe, loader, skid steer, dump trucks, and other various heavy equipment and hand tools.
Maintains and lubricates automotive and field equipment. Makes minor repairs as needed.
Assists in the setup and execution of traffic control devices.
Assists with the inspection of the storm water and sewer collection systems with the use of CCTV equipment.
Assists in cleaning, maintenance, operation, construction, and restoration of the storm water and sewer collection systems as directed.
Responds to customer requests.
Responds to emergency calls on a 24-hour basis while on-call duty as specified in the Springville City Personnel Handbook.
Assists confined entries and follows proper protocol.
Assists and performs proper trenching and shoring when necessary.
Assists other members of a crew in various work assignments.
Follows the Springville City Public Works safety program.
Works well with and assists other departments as needed.
Various computer skills for daily, weekly, and monthly reports. (Excel, Word, Esri, etc.)
Able to follow and implement instructions.
Able to solve various problems/issues while in the field.
Maintains and promotes a positive work environment.
Able to meet and communicate with inspectors and contractors.
Understand and operate flood irrigation system.
May be required to work weekends and holidays during irrigation schedule.
All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Must be able to:
Perform all the necessary repair and installation work on sewer/storm water pipelines.
Assist work crew and other departments.
Read and understand written and oral instructions.
Be available for on-call status.
Work outdoors in all types of weather.
Work well with the public while carrying out job functions.
Physical Demands:
This position requires the employee be able to:
Work in all weather conditions associated with waste water and storm water.
Lift up to 75 pounds regularly, climb ladders, enter manholes, boxes, open trenches, and other underground utility.
Have enough physical strength and agility to perform required work.
Drug screen and background checks performed
