In this role, you'll operate a variety of equipment used to construct, maintain, and repair the City's streets and alleys, public right-of-way, storm water system infrastructure, and sidewalks. You'll also be responsible for snow and ice removal, and handle other severe weather operations.

What qualifications are necessary for the role?
To perform the essential duties of the position, the minimum education and experience required includes:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of one (1) years of experience in equipment operation, general construction, or applicable trade is required.
- Possession of a valid state-issued Class "B" Commercial Driver's License, or ability to obtain such license within one (1) year of hire.
- Valid state-issued driver's license at time of hire is required.
What is the typical schedule?
A typical work schedule is 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. On occasion, deepening on the season, work maybe a varied schedule including nights and weekends; ability and willingness to respond to situations twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, including participation in snow and ice removal operations, other severe weather operations, and other Public Works operations as directed is required for this position.
What is the pay?
The starting annual salary for this position is $43,577 ($20.95 per hour); this is a non-exempt position. This position is also eligible for annual economic adjustments and performance-based adjustments, as approved by the City Council.

- Vacation: You will receive a prorated amount of 15 days - based upon the number of full months work to year end. On January 1 of the following year, you will receive the full 15 days.
- Floating Holidays: You will receive a prorated amount of 3 days - based upon the number of full months worked to year end. On January 1 of the following year, you will receive the full 3 days.
- Holidays: CoJ is closed for eight (8) holidays each year.
- Sick: You will earn 8 hours of sick time each full month worked.
