Maintenance Laborers are responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the maintenance facility grounds. Laborers may also perform custodial duties in the offices, maintenance shops, etc. This position may also assist in various lines of business.

Responsibilities of Position:

  • Maintenance facility grounds keeping, including but not limited to shop cleaning, road calls for oil spill clean up, parts pick up, maintenance facility grounds, and surrounding areas.
  • Operate various hand-held manual, electrical, and gas-powered tools and equipment.
  • Maintain and ensure the safe operating condition of assigned equipment and tools according to company policy and OSHA.
  • Pressure-wash and perform minor repairs to shop tools, bins, containers, and shop-based tasks.
  • Perform safe driving practices while driving to vendor locations to deliver trucks and test drive trucks. transporting, loading, and unloading shop supplies, parts, and tools.
  • Performs safe driving practices while driving to vendor locations to pick up parts, deliver trucks, and test drive trucks.
  • Assist with general housekeeping of maintenance shops and offices.
  • Perform minor repairs and general upkeep of the maintenance facility.
  • Clean, prepare, and paint containers.
  • Professional interaction with internal and external customers.
  • Assist in various lines of business, as needed. (i.e. technician helper).
  • Safely performs duties in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • May assist in other projects or areas of the shop as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Self-starter, aggressive work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Safety conscious.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

  • Experience working with various hand tools and equipment.
  • Previous CDL driving experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude preferred.

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

  • Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.
  • Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
  • Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.
