WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Vice President, Structures (Bridge) Transportation Project Manager. This position will support our Southwest Mountain (UT, CO, AZ, and NM) projects but will be based out of WSP's South Jordan, UT office. Job responsibilities include providing situational administrative and technical project management guidance for the development, execution, management, and monitoring of designated projects within the specified geography and discipline in support of company, regional, and national business line goals, providing responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle (proposal phase, planning and project startup, project execution, reporting, and project closeout), and providing innovation, administration, and pragmatic direction to address current and future project management challenges in a rapidly changing and complex business and operations climate. This position will be part-time or on call.

People & Performance Leadership
- Provide management, growth and development of the Project Engineering teams.
- Provide leadership, partnering closely with the Local Business Leader and Senior Management Team.
- Focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators and contribute to the overall success of the West Region.

Business Development
- Support our clients and the industry through innovative thought and advancement of transformative transportation projects.
- Collaborate with other local offices and in-house national transportation delivery experts to provide clients with innovative and future-focused solutions.
- Support transportation business development efforts, strategy development, client engagement and pursuits in the Southwest Mountain region.
- Serve as key staff on pursuits: project manager, deputy project manager, design lead, advisor, etc.
- Assist in the process of procuring contracts with preferred contractors for transportation projects.
- Engage with clients to develop new business leads and project pursuits.
- Develop strategic alliances and project partners to secure new work.
- Represent the firm in the market through involvement in client and industry events and associations.
Project/Program Management
- Lead the delivery of transportation projects and project teams for agencies in the Southwest Mountain region as an active member of the transportation team.
- Lead key projects as Project Manager or other roles as appropriate.
- Participate in contract negotiations.
- Maintain regular communications with the client including reporting on monthly status, safety incidents, and major issues together with scope and budget impacts.
- Participate in and oversee problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions. Assist with developing project recovery plans.
- Ensure regular project reporting and updates are provided to clients, technical areas, and business unit managers, identifying any emergent issues with scope, risk, and/or budget.
- Guide staff and assist in project management responsibilities, including oversight of project financial performance, adherence to project management and quality control plans, and adequacy of risk management plans.
- Provide leadership and oversight to ensure quality project deliverables, including PS&E documents, engineering reports, project memorandums, etc.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
- 12+ years of relevant post-education experience in the civil engineering transportation industry, focusing on Business Development, Project Delivery, Program/Project Management and/or Alternative Delivery.
- Utah Engineer License (PE), or ability to obtain licensure within 3 months of starting.
- 10+ years of Project Management experience of large/complex projects.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients.
- Strong management/leadership skills.
- Established client relationships and industry contacts.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Advanced proficiency with analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project management.
- Advanced proficiency with critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes.
- Advanced proficiency with interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively, persuasively, and tactfully with leadership, subcontractors, and employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific project deliverables, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, subcontractors, consultants, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exits.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet project-specific needs.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Alternative Delivery Experience (CM/GC, CMAR, DB, PDB)
- Experience on Federal administrations (FHWA, FRA, USACE)
- Experience coordinating with tribes and municipalities
- Experience working in National Parks/on federal land
