Job Title: Project Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join our engineering team and lead various engineering projects across our operations. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in utilities and consumer goods packaging systems, utilizing Six Sigma methods and project management skills to execute projects efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate major engineering projects and assist in developing departmental goals.
- Perform and evaluate process mapping and value stream analyses.
- Generate ACAD drawings and detailed specifications for equipment bidding and project work.
- Collaborate with marketing personnel to develop packaging equipment alternatives for new product concepts.
- Create project scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules for management approval and execution.
- Communicate project options, justifications, and proposals effectively in written and verbal form.
- Manage project execution efficiently and negotiate contracts as required.
- Oversee the installation and erection of buildings and machinery.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement projects and cost control.
- Prepare and operate within operating budgets, capital expenditure requests, and the capital plan.
- Collaborate with required disciplines to revise the annual capital budget.
- Provide support for daily production as required.
- Evaluate compliance with engineering-related directives, including Occupational Safety and Health Act and environmental regulations.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- Five to ten years of engineering experience in manufacturing facilities, preferably in the consumer products industry.
- Ability to organize and direct major engineering projects and manage personnel.
- Proficiency in ACAD, WORD, EXCEL, POWER POINT, and Microsoft Project.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Solid background in consumer products, high-speed packaging systems.
- Specialized knowledge in equipment packaging systems design and implementation.
- Foundation in Lean/Sigma methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of maintenance management.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Autodesk Inventor.
- Capital project experience and strong mechanical and electrical background.
Work Environment
Our facility specializes in smokeless tobacco products and is currently expanding with new product additions. The role primarily involves 1st shift work but may require working on offshifts during equipment installations. The engineering offices have been recently updated, and we are aiming to grow our project engineering team.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $116000.00/yr.
