Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Machine Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various machines, including but not limited to band saws and handheld grinders. The role involves setting up and operating machines, reading blueprints, and cutting materials according to specified dimensions. Additionally, the candidate will assist with other machinery, work with different gauges of sheet metal, and perform inspections of machined parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Responsibilities Operate various machines including band saws and handheld grinders. Set up and operate machines according to specifications. Read and interpret blueprints to cut materials to required dimensions. Assist with operating other machinery as needed. Work with different gauges of sheet metal to meet customer demands. Perform inspections of machined parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Essential Skills Experience in machine operation. Proficiency in heavy manufacturing and metals. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Strong writing, reading, and communication skills for following work instructions, writing reports, and communicating with the production and management team. Work Environment This is a first shift position with working hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. After a probationary period, the start time may shift closer to 9 a.m. The work environment is structured around safety and efficiency, providing a conducive space for manufacturing and metalworking. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MELROSE PARK, Illinois. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
