Perform operations of heavy equipment as assigned.

Job Description:

This position is located in Louisville, Nebraska.

Tentative start date is in early September.

Essential duties:

Operate heavy earth-moving equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, mining trucks, scrapers, and more in all aspects of mining.

Perform proper equipment startup and shutdown procedures along with daily servicing of equipment.

Operate within the acceptable range of all gauges on the instrumentation panel.

Perform all job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety policies, and state and federal environmental regulations in a safe manner consistent with North American Mining standards.

Practice defensive driving and operating at all times.

Other duties:

Work with other equipment operators in a safe and organized manner.

Assist in water management activities, reclamation, load/haul, construction, and maintenance activities, as necessary.

Perform utility work and operate utility equipment.

Assist the maintenance department with routine repairs.

Keep the supervisor informed of any potential problems.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must understand basic mechanical workings of heavy equipment to prevent damage.

Operate equipment properly within tolerances as well as perform preventative maintenance and servicing on occasion.

Must have the ability to work with GPS units in the equipment.

Having the knowledge and ability to respond to emergencies and unpredictable situations.

Ability to recognize unsafe and adverse conditions and the knowledge to correct them.

Education and Training:

High school diploma or GED.

Two years of experience operating heavy off-road construction equipment preferred.

Willingness to work rotating shifts, night shifts, and weekends.
