Job Title: Field Service Engineer-limited travel
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Field Engineer to independently perform complex semi-technical field assignments involving the installation, modification, testing, inspection, or repair of company products and equipment. The ideal candidate will coordinate work with other groups to ensure commitments are met, typically on remotely operated maintenance and testing equipment, and will recommend measures to improve operations and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex field service operations that present unusual problems requiring strong technical skills.
- Construct complex prototype models or simulated systems as requested.
- Engage in semi-technical work on development and production projects, integrating requirements with a comprehensive understanding of the complete project.
- Perform basic fabrication, assembly, erection, maintenance, repair, and operation of products, systems, laboratory calibration, or test equipment.
- Conduct tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of equipment and products, and record data.
- Compile and correlate a variety of data, reduce data for analysis, prepare schematics, diagrams, or parts lists, and make recommendations regarding test procedures and hardware.
- Provide leadership in the assembly and operation of laboratory and field service equipment.
- Troubleshoot test equipment and apply knowledge and experience towards solving problems, such as types of repairs or modifications required.
- Recommend changes, such as new equipment or modified procedures, to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct detailed inventories and inspections to determine necessary maintenance and repairs, assisting in determining resource requirements.

- Electrical experience with soldering.

- Thorough understanding of company products and equipment.
- Knowledge of engineering concepts and practices.
- Ability to select the most effective approaches and adapt standard practices to resolve complex semi-technical problems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead less experienced staff.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Decisions and actions based on individual knowledge and experience that may affect quality, delay schedules, and result in rework, as assignments are not subject to close scrutiny.
- Highly complex problems are referred to engineers for further analysis.
Work Environment
The role involves working with remotely operated maintenance and testing equipment. It requires the ability to adapt to various environments and coordinate effectively with different teams. The position demands strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to lead and train less experienced staff.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
