Primary purpose: To fabricate interior and exterior doors and door frames while performing general warehouse duties. This role requires welding, carpentry, and organizational skills to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient fabrication and installation of metal doors and frames.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fabrication & Installation: Fabricate doors and frames using MIG welding and other techniques. Install doors and hardware on project sites, complete punch lists, and ensure conformance with project specifications and safety guidelines.
- Material Handling: Unload, distribute, and stage wood and hollow metal doors and related hardware. Check materials prior to delivery for accuracy and damage. Prepare surfaces and components for welding, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
- Inventory & Organization: Organize, inventory, and maintain hardware and fabrication supplies. Ensure workspace is clean, organized, and safe.
- Quality & Inspection: Examine workpieces for defects. Measure accurately using tape measures down to 1/8". Detect faulty operations or defective materials and report issues promptly.
- Communication & Teamwork: Communicate effectively with supervisors and project managers regarding project status, issues, and completions. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor in all interactions.
- Safety: Follow all safety procedures and use protective equipment as required. Prioritize a safe working environment at all times.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Welding & Fabrication: Ability to perform MIG welding on steel doors and frames. Confident in preparing material surfaces and welding in various positions.
- Construction Knowledge: Working understanding of door/frame installation, hardware, and basic carpentry.
- Blueprint & Schematic Reading: Skilled at reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams to guide fabrication and installation work.
- Measurement Accuracy: Proficient in using tape measures down to 1/8" and ensuring precise dimensions.
- Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and handle physically demanding tasks such as moving doors and materials.
- Problem Solving & Quality Focus: Ability to detect defects, resolve fabrication issues, and ensure quality control throughout the process.
- Organization & Attention to Detail: Strong ability to organize materials, maintain clean workspaces, and manage hardware inventory with accuracy.
- Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills with team members, supervisors, and project managers.
- Safety Awareness: Consistent focus on workplace safety practices and protocols.
- Driving: Valid driver's license for transport and on-site deliveries when needed.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Forklift Operation: Experience operating or willingness to learn to operate a forklift.
- Industry Background: Previous work in a lumber yard, construction, or manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar software tools.
