SAFETY/SECURITY SENSITIVE DESIGNATION & JOB OBJECTIVE
This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
JOB OBJECTIVE: To perform construction, repairs, maintenance and equipment operation at City Parks and Recreation facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Constructs cement walls, sidewalks, and curbs for new and existing Parks and Recreation facilities, utilizing blueprint guides and specifications; makes cement and concrete repairs for existing facilities.
- Performs carpentry and masonry in the construction, installation, alteration and repair of new and existing Parks and Recreation facilities.
- Performs welding tasks in installing and repairing Parks and Recreation facilities.
- Builds and installs retaining walls for projects utilizing hand and power tools.
- Drives a light duty pickup truck and a one ton pickup to transport supplies, equipment and materials to job sites and unloads supplies, equipment, and materials.
- Checks fluid levels in vehicles and equipment before operation; transports vehicles and equipment to the Vehicle Maintenance Shop for repairs.
- Provides working supervision to Parks Maintenance Workers and part-time employees.
- Paints and performs other building and equipment maintenance.
- Installs, replaces, and repairs roofing for Parks and Recreation facilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of one (1) year of experience in construction work of a semi-skilled nature and one (1) year of supervisory or lead worker experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
