Seeking a reliable and hard-working individual with a valid ClassB CDL to perform commercial driving and hands-on labor tasks. The role includes transporting company trucks, maintaining clean and organized shop environments, and supporting field and vendor operations.
Responsibilities of Position:
- Commercial Driving:
- Performs safe driving practices while shuttle company trucks between job sites, service centers, vendors, and yards using CDL Class
- A/B vehicles
- Perform pretrip and posttrip inspections; ensure vehicles are fueled, clean, and service-ready
- Shop and Yard Maintenance:
- Sweep and maintain cleanliness of shop floors, service bays, and yard areas
- Empty trash receptacles daily and dispose of debris in designated areas
- Power-wash or sweep spills as needed to maintain a safe work environment
- Material Handling & Site Support:
- Load and unload equipment, materials, and tools for job site and vendor tasks
- Secure cargo in compliance with DOT and company policies
- Assist in moving light materials within shop or yard as needed
- Perform sanding, scraping, painting, placing stickers, and minor repair work on company containers and other equipment
- Vendor & Job Site Assistance:
- Transport trucks to vendors for service, inspections, or repairs
- Coordinate drop-offs/pick-ups with vendors, ensuring timely and professional delivery
- Safety & Record-Keeping:
- Performs duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
- Identify and address hazards; maintain a clean, safe, and orderly workspace
- Accurately complete driving logs, vehicle checklists, and housekeeping records
- Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position will not manage employees
Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:
- Detail-oriented with strong adherence to safety regulations (DOT, OSHA)
- Self-starter who can work independently and within a team
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
- Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:
- Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience
- Mechanical aptitude preferred
Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:
- Continuously lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 20 lbs. Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs.
- Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
- Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
- Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
- Frequently climbing and/or balancing
- Occasionally sitting
- Frequently standing/walking
Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:
- Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
- Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
- Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
- Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste
- Ability to travel between offices, as required
- Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
- Must be able to read and speak the English language
