Join our dynamic team in Florida as a Junior Level Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in supporting power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects across the state. This position involves a mix of field assessments and design work, providing an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the power/energy/utilities sector.
Responsibilities- Conduct field assessments, which include site visits, visual inspections, measurements, photographs, and writing field reports.
- Support design work by performing engineering calculations and designs for upgrading power distribution infrastructure.
- Execute tasks such as replacing deteriorated cables, moving overhead lines underground, reconductoring existing distribution lines, and replacing aging equipment.
- Perform structural analysis, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordinate protective devices.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from a four-year ABET accredited college or university.
- Ability to work in the field 80% of the time.
- Experience or knowledge of electric utility industry concepts, including primary and secondary distribution systems.
- Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
- Proficiency in using design software packages.
- Interest in Power/Energy/Utilities.
- Experience in general construction knowledge and aptitude.
- Capability to communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and the desire to learn.
This is a fully remote position with fieldwork primarily in the geographical area between Gainesville and Tallahassee, Florida. Candidates must be willing to work outside in the Florida elements and drive to project sites.
