Job Title: Environmental Engineer

Location: Newport, NH Division

Position Summary:

The Environmental Engineer is responsible for the execution of all environmental compliance programs at the Newport facility. This role supports day-to-day implementation of environmental systems, permitting, inspections, and reporting while driving continuous improvement through Lean principles. The position ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and works collaboratively across departments to maintain the highest standards of operational and environmental excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, manage, and submit all required environmental regulatory reports including but not limited to: TRI Form R, Tier II, NHDES Annual Water Use Reports, Stormwater Annual Reports, and Discharge Monitoring Reports
  • Oversee compliance with all site-specific environmental permits including stormwater, wastewater, hazardous waste, air, and underground storage tanks (USTs)
  • Conduct or coordinate all required environmental inspections (SPCC, SWPPP, waste satellite areas, USTs, air permit inspections, etc.)
  • Manage hazardous waste program including accumulation area inspections, manifests, vendor coordination, and proper container labeling and handling
  • Maintain site chemical inventory and review all chemical requests in alignment with facility SDS and Velocity systems
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal departments for sampling events and environmental monitoring (stormwater, wastewater, air emissions, etc.)
  • Track and investigate environmental deviations or regulatory non-compliances; conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective/preventive actions
  • Participate in design and project reviews to ensure environmental compliance and pollution prevention measures are integrated from the planning phase
  • Maintain and improve site-specific Environmental Management System (EMS) in collaboration with corporate standards
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and Lean teams to identify process improvements that reduce environmental impact and support sustainability initiatives
  • Stay current on changes to environmental regulations and best practices; update site procedures and training as needed
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, EH&S, or related discipline (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience managing environmental compliance in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable environmental regulations (EPA, RCRA, CAA, CWA, EPCRA, SPCC, etc.)
  • Experience managing regulatory reporting and compliance documentation
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies and their application to environmental programs
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across diverse teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
