The Forklift Operator works in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with changing priorities throughout the day. The primary responsibilities of this role include the moving and storing of materials based on production work orders.

Essential Functions:

The following is a list of specific duties which are considered the essential functions of this job. The list is not exhaustive, as all positions at the Company are dynamic. The employee who occupies this position is expected to assume any/all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list.

  • Collects and delivers raw materials, semi-finished and finished products.
  • Rotates stock, loads and unloads skids and bands material before moving product.
  • Identifies material to ensure that correct material is supplied.
  • Moves and stores materials and keep assigned areas supplied with material.
  • Works from schedules, production orders and instructions.
  • Clears and moves scrap.
  • Assists in other departments and works on the lines as necessary.
  • Maintains fork lift truck by placing on charge and notifying supervision when truck is not operating properly.
  • Completes daily fork safety inspection.
  • Completes cycle counts as required.
  • Maintains material storage areas as required.
  • Ensures all material is properly labeled prior to transport.
  • Must attain a good understanding of HFI and mill claim processes.
  • Follow all safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • At least three to five years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Exposure/experience to manufacturing.
  • Forklift Certified.
  • Understands quality, PPE requirements and safety and the importance of complying with safety policies and procedures.

Physical/Visual Demands/Work Environment (Physical and visual activities that are commonly associated * with the performance of the functions of this job):

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to walk and stand.
  • The position is associated with pushing, pulling, climbing, handling, reaching, stretching, and working in tight and high places.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:

  • Inside conditions, extremes of heat (100+ seasonal), exposure to humidity, working in tight areas, high noise levels from production environment, including some exposure to outside weather elements, oil and dirt.
