Duties
Major Duties:
* Maintains equipment buildings, grounds and utilities within a facility.
* Installs, modifies and repairs new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems.
* Maintains and install heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
* Fits pipe sections by screwing, bolting, brazing, welding, gluing, fusing, soldering, and caulking connections by forcing oakum and molten lead into joints.
* Performs maintenance, repair, inspection, testing, modification, and installation of utility systems and structures and components within a facility as a function of construction and renovation activities.
* Installs, renovates, removes electrical systems incident to the construction or renovation of medical buildings, offices, or shops.
* Completes needed renovations to installed systems, and rearrange and hook up items, such as outlets, switches, light fixtures, regulators, pillow speakers, patient stations, patient TVs, and circuit breakers.
* Plans and lays out work for job assignments.
* Makes independent judgments and decisions within the framework of oral and written instructions and accepted trade practices.
* Understands and use a variety of measuring equipment such as micrometers, pressure gauges, feeler gauges and test equipment.
* Performs rough and finish carpentry work by laying out and erecting sills, beams, plates, studs, corner posts, trusses and framing.
* Uses wiring diagrams, electrical maintenance and repair manuals to repair equipment.
* Uses check valves, relief valves, pressure regulators, expansion joints, solenoid valves and other devices to ensure proper functioning of equipment.
* Uses tools normally associated with the pipefitting trade, i.e., measuring tapes, sliding squares, levels, chalk lines, power pipe threaders and cutters, pipe wrenches etc.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: M-F 600am-430pm

Physical Requirements: Works in tiring positions for prolonged periods. Frequent standing, bending, stooping, crouching and arm movement. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 45 pounds. May occasionally lift heavier items with assistance.
