Summary: We are seeking a part-time Project Manager to lead the coordination of a statewide initiative aimed at increasing online enrollment across New Mexico's public universities. This one-year, state-funded role will manage cross-functional teams and service delivery in areas such as marketing, enrollment support, and instructional design. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, collaborative, and experienced in higher education or multi-institutional project management.

Classification Summary:

Oversees projects. Assembles project teams, assigns individual responsibilities, develops project schedules and is responsible for determining and acquiring resources needed. Must be familiar with the entire scope and requirements of project(s) and serves as liaison between team members and functional area management requesting project.

Classification Standard Duties:

Manages, coordinates, and facilitates projects or phases of a large or complex project. Develops integrated project plans and implementation schedules. May supervise or provide functional direction to staff and/or student employees. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency

Required Education:Bachelor's degree in a related field.; Required Experience:Two (2) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.; Required Certification/License:

Job Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Project Manager to oversee the coordination and execution of a statewide initiative designed to support other public universities in increasing their online enrollment. This initiative is led by NMSU Global and funded for one year to demonstrate the impact and scalability of shared services provided to partner institutions across the state.

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, tracking, and managing operational and logistical tasks related to the delivery of services such as marketing, enrollment support, course development coordination, and infrastructure consulting. This role requires collaboration across internal departments, external institutional partners, and third-party vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day project operations for the statewide initiative, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met on time and within scope.

Develop and maintain project timelines, task lists, and progress dashboards.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, instructional design, IT, enrollment management) to align service delivery.

Schedule and facilitate meetings with internal staff, partner institutions, and external stakeholders.

Document processes, decisions, and resource allocations to support accountability and potential scale-up.

Monitor project risks, track changes in scope, and escalate issues when needed.

Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related communication among all stakeholders.

Support reporting and documentation needs for grant/funding compliance and performance review.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Monday, Asana, Trello, Microsoft Project).

Experience in higher education, particularly in online learning or enrollment initiatives.

Familiarity with statewide or cross-institutional collaborations.

PMP or similar project management certification.

Special Requirements of the Position

This is a temporary appointment with a pre-determined end date not to exceed one year and is subject to earlier termination if necessary. Temporary employees have no entitlement or expectation of continued employment during or beyond the appointment period. Position may average up to 29 hours per week. New Mexico retirees may have different FTE requirements, but still shall not exceed an FTE of 0.74. Selection of candidates and hiring will be processed through the appropriate academic department.
