About Our Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced an Electrical Mechanical Technician to work in the Blairs Distribution Center. The Electrical Mechanical Technician is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager and Sr. Maintenance Manager within the maintenance group for the repair of existing equipment, installation of equipment, and maintenance of buildings and grounds for Unique Industries, Inc., Blairs, Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance functions during assigned shifts as Electrical Mechanical Technician at the Blairs VA facilities, including Building, Grounds, and Plant equipment
  • Help Train team members on troubleshooting electrical/mechanical/PLC issues pertaining to all plant assets.
  • Works with team members regarding safety, quality, productivity, training, and GMP.
  • Helps maintain electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment within the plants.
  • Helps Manager develop, execute, and revise departmental SOPs to enhance quality, quantity, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Interacts with all areas of the department to understand issues and assess needs to improve consistency and integrity of processes.
  • Reports issues with machine/equipment during shifts promptly to the maintenance manager.
  • Ensures all machine/equipment issues are properly repaired during shift and reported to the Maintenance Manager in a timely manner.
  • Communicates to the Manager and Maintenance Administrative Assistant any parts that need to be stocked for machinery/equipment or are currently out of stock.
  • Uses laptops, machine programs, and knowledge with PLC’s; to make repairs, adjustments, correction, and approved program modifications to keep plant equipment running safely.
  • Strives to build knowledge and skills with maintenance techs continuously.
  • Stays current with developments within the Maintenance Department and shares expertise with others.
  • Exhibits a professional manner when always dealing with others is required.
  • Constantly works to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • A commitment to companywide quality and safety is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of industrial automation process.
  • Must always work safely
  • Must follow all federal, state and company policies and procedures at all times

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate with management, colleagues, line staff, and individuals outside the company to meet departmental goals.
  • Ability to report departmental needs to Maintenance Manager and assists in developing short- and long-term strategic plans to address those needs.
  • Electrical and mechanical skills to maintain warehouse systems.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and/or facts and recommendations effectively.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, drawings, and associated documents to maintain efficient standards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, VOSHA, and local codes pertaining to general safety and maintenance of grounds, buildings, and associated equipment used.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability Maintenance during repairs, troubleshooting, and installation of equipment.
  • H/S diploma or GED is a requirement
  • Two-year Technical or associate’s degree required. Or 5 plus years working as a PLC technician.
  • Five to seven years’ experience in a distribution/manufacturing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of Conveyor systems, PLCs, Pneumatics, and Hydraulics required.
  • Working knowledge of RS Logis/Studio 5000 Or similar PLC Software
  • Supervision / Leadership experience preferred.
  • Allen Bradley and siemens PLC knowledge required.
  • Valid State Driver’s License required.
  • Electrical Journeyman preferred
  • 5+ years as an industrial Mechanic and/or electrician and/or PLC integration required.
