SUMMARY
Performs engineering-related duties in support of enterprise objectives with close oversight. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies related to network and outside plant infrastructure. Carry out other work assigned by management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs network and outside plant facility additions that supports Enterprise growth and continue to provide timely and quality services to customers upon request. The primary design focus is last-mile designs of facilities for neighborhoods/communities/designated areas.

  • Based on designs, prepares necessary project documentation in a timely manner that includes cost estimates, installation specifications, and drawings; obtain easements and quotes, and order material where applicable. Projects should include clear and concise instructions for construction and GIS posting.

  • Provides project oversight during construction, installation, and acceptance of network and plant additions as detailed by projects and job orders. Manage projects / job orders through completion to ensure specifications and timelines are met.

  • Develop an understanding of telecommunication technologies, practices, and standards; acquire relevant training and attend industry relevant seminars.

  • Research (and test as needed) new technologies, network designs, and make related recommendations for implementation.

  • Assist management with other work assignments.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-year Engineering degree or

  • Other 4-year degree, 2-year technical degree or equivalent training, and 2 years of related technical experience

  • One year of telecommunications or engineering experience is preferred

  • Good written and oral communication, computer, and organizational skills

  • Self-sufficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, etc)

  • Knowledge of GIS-based OSP mapping systems and importance in record keeping and facilities tracking

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs., work in confined spaces, work outdoors, and have valid driver's license
