Estimator - Residential Construction - RMI

Position Description:

The Estimator Residential Construction works in conjunction with our Home Building Division and Warehouse division to develop quotes and orders from blueprints and some jobsite visits. This position provides pricing for the builders and guidance that is critical to the efficient and accurate fulfillment of customer requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Exhibit mentality of problem-solving that helps uncover solutions to customer needs.
• Reviews customer drawing for completeness, looking for tolerances and all dimensions needed to produce the part.
• Analyze blueprints and specifications to prepare accurate estimates of steel for home builders.
• Generate proposals (Standards and Options) for clients based on blueprints and specifications.
• Creates quotes and orders using ZRMI_Sales in SAP.
• Participate in pre-bid reviews to ensure accuracy.
• Consults with management team on scheduling decisions and quotation questions.
• Communicate with customers to ensure prints/specifications are accurate before releasing orders to production.
• Assists in educating Sales personnel on prints, programming, and homebuilding so they can better communicate with customers.
• Creating Fast CAM drawings for Homebuilding and warehouse teams.
• Assist in entering Fast CAM sales orders for warehouse.
• Other tasks as assigned by the Commercial Manager and Inside Sales Supervisor (Home Build)

• Ensure professional appearance appropriate for meetings with executive level employees or clients.
• Requires ability to perform primary job responsibilities while spending long periods of time at a
• May require travel to the office during inclement weather

• Mechanical aptitude.

• Must be able to handle multiple projects under a deadline.
• Must have ability to handle large workload, multitask, and maintain a positive attitude.
• Can work as both a cohesive member of a team, as well as independently accomplish tasks.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
• Fast CAM and other drawing software

Preferred Background, Competencies & Expertise:

• Demonstrated experience with Drafting/Programming
• Learning agility
• Completion of general technical training courses related to drafting/programming
