Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and safety-oriented Underground (UG) Distribution Foreman to lead and supervise underground electric utility crews. This role is critical in ensuring field operations run efficiently, safely, and according to schedule. The ideal candidate will bring leadership, underground utility knowledge, and a strong work ethic to support our growing infrastructure projects.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to Linemen, Apprentices, and Groundmen
Coordinate all on-site operations, including crew mobilization, work planning, and equipment setup
Ensure safety protocols are communicated, understood, and enforced at all times
Manage materials, tools, and equipment required for daily operations
Read and interpret site plans, electrical drawings, blueprints, and scopes of work
Communicate effectively with Construction Managers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders
Oversee adherence to project schedules and assist in planning and budgeting
Utilize or be open to learning digital tools and mobile technology for job site efficiency
Maintain a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, productivity, and crew morale
Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience leading underground utility distribution crews is required
Groundwork experience in utility construction is essential
Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and construction practices
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and utility specifications
Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
Comfortable collaborating with all levels of the organization
Must be willing to:
Travel long distances on short notice
Work extended hours, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain
Must pass a background check, drug and & alcohol screening, clearinghouse, and MVR check
Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs or more frequently throughout the day
Required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and climb for extended periods
Must be able to grip, grasp, and perform repetitive hand and wrist movements
Ability to work in confined spaces and trenches, including uneven or rough terrain
Must be able to withstand prolonged exposure to outdoor environments such as heat, cold, rain, dust, and noise
Must have adequate vision and hearing (with or without correction) to safely perform job duties
Capable of operating hand and power tools, and other construction-related equipment
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily outdoors in active construction environments
May require extended travel based on project location
Work in proximity to heavy machinery, traffic, and electrical hazards
PPE is required at all times (company-provided)
