Storm Water Maintenance - Maintenance Supervisor

This position will be in the Sewer Maintenance Division of the Municipal Services Department and will be responsible for planning, assigning, directing, and supervising employees involved in both storm water and sanitary sewer maintenance and inspection operations. This position will be required to complete the following: perform regular work site reviews and complete performance evaluations to ensure safety and compliance; determine staffing and material needs to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of resources; analyze equipment needs and recommend purchases or replacements as necessary; assist in the preparation of cost estimates for assigned projects; respond to and document requests and complaints from the public and/or other city departments; maintain accurate records and provide reporting as needed; oversee the maintenance and inventory of tools, equipment, and materials necessary for operations; coordinate with external entities for permit and contract work; participate in the on-call rotation for operations supervisors and respond to after-hours calls when assigned; Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; and four to six years progressively responsible related experience with two years at a supervisory level; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must possess a valid Class A State Commercial Driver's License or a valid Class A State Commercial Driver's License Permit and must obtain valid State Commercial Driver's License within six months of hire. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of materials, methods and techniques used in construction and inspection operations. Skills in computer based asset management programs, and record keeping. Skilled in planning, organizing, assigning, directing, supervising, and reviewing and evaluating the work of staff. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Physical Demands: Standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions: Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals, wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. Office environment is typically quiet, and temperature controlled.
