The Project Coordinator is an entry-level role within the Commercial Division, ideal for a recent college graduate or someone entering the construction industry. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn and contribute across both field operations and project management, supporting the successful execution of commercial and multifamily construction projects in the Charlotte market.

Working under the direct supervision of the Field Operations Manager, this role is designed to build a strong foundation in construction processes and provide a clear path for career growth into either a Superintendent or Project Manager role.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Project Execution Support

  • Assist Commercial Project Managers and Superintendents with scheduling, procurement tracking, field coordination, and reporting.
  • Attend project meetings and walk-throughs; take notes, track follow-ups, and distribute updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Help manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout requirements.

Field & Operations Learning

  • Shadow Superintendents to understand jobsite workflows, safety expectations, subcontractor management, and quality assurance practices.
  • Maintain and help update daily field logs, photos, and project progress updates.
  • Participate in jobsite walks, assist with layout and measuring, and support punch list efforts as needed.

Material Procurement & Coordination

  • Run materials for active job sites as needed, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to avoid project delays.
  • Track material requests, delivery schedules, and verify quantities with field teams and vendors.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve issues and confirm availability, substitutions, and lead times.
  • Maintain and report on material usage logs to support procurement planning and job cost tracking.

Administrative & Tracking

  • Help maintain digital project folders with up-to-date documentation, logs, and schedules.
  • Assist in compiling reports for project cost tracking, subcontractor compliance, and field metrics.
  • Learn and support use of project management software such as Procore, Excel trackers, and shared drives.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; or relevant practical experience.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

This role is a developmental position with a growth trajectory toward Commercial Project Manager or Commercial Superintendent, based on performance, business need, and personal strengths. The coordinator will receive targeted training, field exposure, and regular mentorship from leadership.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of construction software like Procore is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between job sites as needed
  • Office equipment such as computers, tablets, printers, copiers, etc.
