Job Summary
Provides general assistance in coordinating and supervising operations in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry, as directed.
Principally, provides immediate supervision to personnel engaged in the operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of stationary motors and mechanical equipment such as sprinkler systems, alarm systems, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, heating and cooling system components, air conditioners pumps, compressors, and generator, to provide distribution of heat, power, gases, air pressure, water pressure, suction, carpentry, and other energy sources throughout the hospital complex.
Qualifications
- Provides general assistance to the foreman in the day-to-day management of the campus.
- Schedules and assigns work by work order via the section foreman, form the preventive maintenance schedule, maintenance requisitions, or in response to trouble calls; establish priorities; estimates time and materials and workforce needed for each job; and advises supervisor accordingly, for planning purposes.
- Provides on-the-job training or functional guidance as necessary to subordinate personnel; assigns work according to priority and ability to perform; monitors progress and performance of work.
- Coordinates work with other trades and crafts relative to project involvement. Works closely with other hospital units to provide coordination of activities and minimize disruption of hospital operations.
- Distributes tools, fittings, hardware, and other stock items as needed; maintains inventory at desired levels; maintains accountability system for hand tools; reorders stock supplies based on daily consumption and inventory.
- Performs daily inspections of equipment to ensure its safety and operability.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma Related Field of Study preferred

- Must be able to read sand understand blueprints.
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the shop trade.

- Ability to supervise and train staff.
- Ability to monitor and maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
