Bison Ridge Construction, LLC is seeking an experienced Earthwork Heavy Equipment Operator with a minimum of 3 years of experience primarily in overlot grading and mass overexcavation for residential and commercial land development projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with site layout, overlot grading, mass overexcavation, and be familiar with erosion control BMPs. The Earthwork Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment to spread earth, grade terrain, or move dirt and rock. Must have experience operating paddle wheel scrapers, rollers/compactors, skid steers, mini excavators, water trucks, etc. Accepting applications from 7/23/25 to 8/3/25.
Bison Ridge Construction has been delivering full-service general contracting and construction management services for land development projects since 2010. We have been involved in projects in the Denver Metro area, Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operate equipment equipped with blades in successive passes to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level terrain
Complete mass overexcavation of sites per plan specifications, achieving proper moisture content and compaction
Safely operate various pieces of equipment including paddle wheel scrapers, rollers/compactors, loaders, dozers, skid steers, mini-excavators, etc.
Read and interpret grade stakes, site markings, and plans
Properly set up and utilize grade control devices to achieve grade tolerances per plan specifications
Always operate equipment safely including operating equipment in the vicinity of underground utilities (communication, power, natural gas, etc.) to avoid damage and injury
Installation and maintenance of BMPs and erosion control
Attend daily meetings to review schedule, production goals, and safety
Work safely at all times, observing all company policies, OSHA Regulations, and site-specific requirements and policies
Safely operate power tools (demo saws, compaction equipment, generators, air compressors, etc.)
Properly maintain equipment including daily pre and post inspections and daily greasing
Must have a collaborative attitude and willingness to perform any work that is required including general labor tasks which may include shoveling, lifting, etc.
Must be able to work overtime including Saturdays
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills Required
Able to safely and efficiently operate equipment such as scrapers, rollers/compactors, loaders, skid-steers, etc. with experience in the heavy civil construction field
Able to read and understand plans and specifications
Able to check grade, read stakes and perform related math functions
Physical Requirements
Must be physically fit and able to perform job duties including: frequent use of hands, arms, legs and whole body; long periods of balance, standing or sitting; frequent walking, climbing, bending and/or lifting objects in excess of 50 pounds. Operators are subject to continuous bouncing, shaking, and equipment vibration. Must be able to work in all weather conditions including very hot, cold and wet conditions.
Work Reporting Locations
Foremen and/or Superintendents will inform employees of the work reporting location. The location will vary depending on project location. Employees are expected to have reliable transportation to and from the work reporting location.
