Job Type Full-time Description
The core purpose of the Estimator is to create timely and accurate estimates. The Estimator will work mainly within a System Solutions Team (SST) taking direction at the team level from the Upfront Project Manager (UPM) and report to the Estimating Manager to fulfill his/her job duties. This staff level position will strive to support all staff and management to meet internal and external deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads the estimating effort as part of a System Solutions Team within the System Solutions Group.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to ensure that time sensitive tasks and deliverables are achieved with excellence within a high-pressure environment.
- Prepare accurate costs of material, labor, freight, overhead, etc. in alignment with clients RFP.
- Read, understand, and interpret drawings, job specifications, scope of work (SOW), and local codes.
- Actively participate in project capture meetings such as: Bid Strategy, Proposal Kick-off, Proposal Status Meetings, subcontractor meetings and estimate review meetings.
- Complete Executive Project Summary for each project estimated.
- Demonstrate understanding of material handling project requirements and effectively communicate project needs to the SST.
- Communicate addenda, clarifications, and customer changes in project SOW to SST and update project estimate.
- Identify and define key elements of proposal schedules.
- Provide input on and interpret the proposed project schedule.
- Use CAD to measure, verify, and do a take-off of project details.
- Accurately calculate materials and installation time for each job estimate.
- Create and use Excel spreadsheets to aid in estimating purposes.
- Support the Upfront Project Manager,?SST, and work with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to obtain current pricing, sourcing, lead time, etc.
- Consistently provide excellent customer service with all external stakeholders and internal team members.
- Provide support to the UPM in creating a professional proposal that clearly communicates the SOW, price, and proposed schedule.?
- Strives to help the organization deliver successful projects (Safety, Timeliness, Execution, Quality, Profitability).
- Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Seeks continued education by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Maintain flexibility and strive to complete all other requests as directed by management.
- Align with DCIs mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives.
Qualifications
- A minimum of an associate degree in Business or a similar area
- At least 3 years work experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or estimating.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel
