Maintenance Mechanic Job Description As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will inspect equipment for defects such as wear, misalignment, and insufficient lubrication. You will determine the best repair methods to minimize production interruptions and troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant equipment. Responsibilities Inspect equipment for defects such as wear, misalignment, and insufficient lubrication. Determine the best way to make repairs to minimize production interruption. Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant equipment. Advise on immediate shutdowns to prevent damage or suggest temporary continued operation. Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, maintain, assemble, and lubricate mechanical equipment. Erect scaffold, hoists, chain falls as required. Assemble and align gears, bearings, and shafts involving piping, valves, and fittings. Operate simple machine tools such as drill press, pipe threading machine, and power saw. Perform approved electric and gas welding as required. Troubleshoot issues with timers, relays, motor starters, starters, and other electrical components such as fuses and VFDs. Perform miscellaneous mechanical work required to maintain the plant. Complete other duties as assigned by management. Essential Skills Maintenance technician experience Welding skills including MIG, TIG, and Stick Proficiency in pneumatics and hydraulics Conveyor maintenance expertise Industrial electrical and mechanical maintenance knowledge Fabrication and welding skills PLC programming ability 4+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in industrial environments Capability to confirm skills based on resume claims Willingness to train on first shift for 3-5 weeks Why Work Here? Employees are regularly exposed to extreme heat, moving mechanical parts, high places, and airborne particles. The noise level is generally high. Water stations with beverages such as Gatorade and snow cones are available, along with a cooled break area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Millington, Tennessee. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
