Mechanical Drafter: Precision, Organization & Process Insight in High-Tech Manufacturing
Job Purpose:

In this position, you'll be the backbone of our documentation efforts, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in every drawing and file. Your work will be essential to our engineering and production teams, making sure our innovative designs translate flawlessly into tangible products. Beyond creating and managing documentation, we value your ability to observe and offer insights that can enhance our workflow. From time to time, you may also be called upon to lend a hand to our engineering teams in a technician-type capacity, assisting with hands-on tasks that support their projects.
Duties:
- Masterful Drawing Creation & Management: Generate new mechanical drawings and meticulously update existing ones, ensuring all documentation reflects the latest design specifications and adheres to stringent industry standards (e.g., ANSI Y14.5M, GD&T).
- GD&T Knowledge: A deep understanding and practical applicatio n o f GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is highly desired.
- Precision BOM Expertise: Create, modify, and manage Bills of Material (BOMs) with impeccable accuracy, ensuring consistency and seamless integration with production planning.
- Engineering Change Order (ECO) Management: Play a key role in the creation and implementation of Engineering Change Orders, ensuring all affected documentation and systems are updated accurately and efficiently.
- Impeccable Data & File Organization: Maintain and organize critical design files and documentation within our systems, ensuring optimal accessibility, version control, and data integrity for all teams.
- Seamless Software Integration: Expertly utilize and manage data within our ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software systems , contributing to efficient data flow and operational excellence. Knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) software is a valuable plus.
- Proactive Process Contribution: While your primary focus is on drawing and documentation, you'll be encouraged to identify potential bottlenecks, pitfalls, or roadblocks within our current drawing, documentation, and data management processes. Your insights will be valuable in suggesting practical improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Essential Support & Collaboration: Work closely with our engineering and production teams, providing critical drafting support to ensure projects progress smoothly and designs are production-ready.
- Engineering Support: Occasionally assist engineering groups with hands-on tasks in a technician capacity, contributing directly to the physical development and testing of prototypes or systems.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- An Associate's Degree in Mechanical Drafting (recent graduates welcome!), OR
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in CAD drafting without a formal degree or certificate.
- CAD Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks), including advanced 3D modeling and 2D detailing, with a deep understanding and practical application of GD&T and ANSI Y14.5 standards. Your CAD skills will be tested during the interview process.
- Software Acumen: Essential familiarity with ERP and PLM software systems. Knowledge of MRP software is a valuable asset.
- Exceptional Attention to Detail: Your meticulous precision is paramount in ensuring the integrity and quality of our technical documentation.
- Strong Organizational Skills: A robust ability to organize and manage complex sets of technical data and files efficiently.
- Observational & Insightful: A keen eye for identifying areas where processes could be improved, and the ability to articulate these observations clearly to relevant teams.
- Collaborative Spirit: While your role is distinct from engineering design, your clear communication and ability to support internal teams are key to collective success.
