ABOUT THE HEAVY CIVIL CONSTRUCTION CARPENTER POSITION

As a Carpenter at Brayman Construction, you will use carpentry hand and power tools to safely construct, erect, install and repair structures, structural members and fixtures. The carpenter will measure and cut material to the required size and assemble, anchor and erect forms and framework.

CARPENTER QUALIFICATIONS

As a Carpenter your job will include a variety of physical labor tasks that will be performed outdoors on an active construction site. A background in heavy civil construction or another similar field is required. You must have a willingness to work hard in the outdoors in all kinds of weather and be willing to listen to and follow directions.

  • Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
  • Ability to perform laborious tasks and safely operate power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read safety rules and instructions in the use and maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
  • Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program; OR at least three years of experience via on-the-job training required.
  • At least three years of related construction experience.
  • Recent work history.

Safety Sensitive Position

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with various safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
