Everest Evolution offers Property and Casualty insurance products across multiple business units, with wholesale-exclusivity for various products within the Construction, Energy, Environmental, Real Estate & Hospitality and Public entity sectors.

Everest Evolution, a member of the Everest Group, Ltd. (Everest) is looking for a Head of Construction Primary Casualty to join either our New York, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, or Chicago office, and lead our Excess & Surplus Lines Construction underwriting team.

The Head of Construction Primary Casualty at Everest Evolution will be responsible for the development and execution of the primary underwriting strategies for US construction risks and leading a team of dedicated Construction Primary underwriters to drive profitable underwriting results.

The ideal candidate will possess deep construction casualty industry knowledge, have established market relationships, strong leadership skills and have a proven track record of success in underwriting complex casualty exposures.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • The development and execution of Portfolio Management strategies to drive underwriting discipline and to ensure book profitability.
  • Growing the construction primary portfolio in preferred casualty construction business.
  • Establishing performance goals and objectives for the underwriting team.
  • Cultivating team marketing strategies in conjunction with the Everest Evolution Sales & Distribution team.
  • Supporting construction industry practice initiatives across the broader organization and other underwriting business units.
  • Participating in relevant industry events and conference, leveraging insights to influence and/or adjust team goals and strategies.
  • Producing Thought Leadership content around market dynamics and trends in the construction casualty insurance industry.
  • Building out the underwriting team through hiring and talent development.
  • Working closely with underwriting support functions in Claims, Actuarial and Risk Engineering to ensure effective coordination between disciplines.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of casualty insurance industry experience, with construction experience preferred.
  • Experience in working on various program types, such as wrap-up programs, project-specific placements and annually renewable contractor programs.
  • Prior managerial experience preferred.
  • Existing market relationships with construction casualty producers and agents.
  • Wholesale distribution experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical as well as communication and presentation skills.
  • Able to think creatively around risks and program design.

For CA, NY, and IL, Only: The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $300,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location. All offers include access to a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
