Senior Electrical Engineer

As an Electrical Engineer on the Spot electrical team focused on high-speed circuit design, you will develop electronics for Boston Dynamics' quadruped mobile robots. You will be responsible for simulation, designs, protocol knowledge, verification, and debugging of high-speed circuits and digital interfaces. You will provide technical leadership for new product development and may be tasked with leading small cross-functional technical teams to resolve critical issues or to develop new electrical assemblies. How you will make an impact:

• Develop (document, design, simulate, test, support) high-speed digital circuit boards at the board and system-level

• Own robot subsystems through architecture, development, and volume manufacturing

• Oversee and/or layout circuit boards in CAD

• Work with SI consultants to simulate high-speed links early in the design process

• Triage, troubleshoot, and diagnose robot electrical failures to root cause

• Author technical documentation such as specifications, schematics, test plans, and reports

• Collaborate with engineering, operations, manufacturing, compliance, and test teams

• Write Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)

• Participate in design reviews

Required Skills:

• BS, MS, or PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, robotics, or closely-related field

• 5+ years of directly related work experience

• Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals

• Knowledge of PCBA designs with high-speed digital interfaces (e.g. MIPI, GMSL, PCIe, 10Gbase-T, 1000base-T1, USB3)

• Embedded computing and/or robotics systems knowledge

• Product design experience

• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g. Altium)

• Familiarity with using a PLM (e.g. Arena)

Nice to have:

• Ability to code in C/C++, Python, and/or LabVIEW

• Experience with Linux operating systems

• Familiarity with Signal Integrity/Power Integrity Simulation tools (e.g. Ansys EM Suite)

• Familiarity with the concepts of functional safety (e.g. IEC61508, ISO13849, IEC61511, and/or ISO26262)

• Knowledge of circuit board manufacturing DfX and best practices
