JOB SUMMARY

The employee performs a broad range of tasks related to journeyman level electrical work. Supports Facilities Services Department by monitoring compliance with applicable codes (Joint Commission, State Department of Health, National Electrical Code). Minimum qualifications include the skills listed, and require the person be a Wyoming State Licensed Journeyman Electrician

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Installing, modifying, repairing, troubleshooting (tracing and locating) defects, loading and testing new and existing electrical systems.
  • Scope of work includes all electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical systems encountered on the SMH campus, offsite outpatient clinics and facilities
  • Develops reviews and participates in electrical safety training for hospital staff. Presents in services to various departments on request; maintains various resource media for training.
  • Maintains documentation and testing records for electrical systems including: essential electrical system, fire alarm system, UPS systems
  • Prepares and disseminates memos and reports. Maintains required records.
  • Participates in performance improvement and information management activities.
  • Meets JCAHO, federal, state and local regulations and standards

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience & License

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), required.
  • Current Journeyman or Master Electrician License, required.
  • Minimum five years of Healthcare maintenance and construction experience, preferred.

Additional Skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, plumbing, mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, architects, and hospital leadership.

Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.
