Job Description
The Mechanic 3 orients and trains the Mechanics (Plant Services), schedules and assigns work to staff members, assists in developing and recommending efficient departmental operating budgets, monitors the use of equipment and supplies, and determines and solves work schedule problems. Additional responsibilities include inspecting work in progress and acting as a substitute for departmental staff in an effort toward ensuring prudent departmental management and promoting departmental effectiveness.
Preventative Maintenance and Repair
Assists in developing and recommending annual department operating and capital budgets and monitors the economical use and procurement of personnel, equipment, and supplies. Ensures that periodic equipment maintenance is carried out in order to control hospital and department costs and ensure the conservation of all hospital resources.
Productivity
Provides quality training and orientation for assigned team members, informs co-workers of relevant departmental policies and procedures, allocates tasks to co-workers as needed, and implements and monitors departmental work schedules and duty assignments.
Schedules and assigns work to staff members, monitors work quality and quantity, and ensures efficient departmental operations by providing supervisory support when needed.
Determines and solves problems concerning delays in work schedules in an effort to ensure timely and efficient project completion. Inspects work in progress in order to ensure job specification conformance.
Acts as a substitute for departmental staff until replacements arrive in an effort to ensure prudent departmental management and promote departmental effectiveness.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
3+ years building/hospital maintenance or construction experience.
High School Diploma
