Summary
The Construction Manager - Solar is responsible for managing all aspects of solar energy construction projects, typically ranging from 3 to 10 MW. This role provides on-site oversight to ensure solar projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards and engineering specifications. The Construction Manager - Solar works collaboratively with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders to support the successful delivery of solar power infrastructure. This position requires 100% travel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead on-site construction management for solar energy projects, including direct supervision of subcontractors and craft labor.
- Coordinate daily activities, schedules, equipment, and materials to maintain progress in alignment with project milestones.
- Oversee civil and electrical scopes of work, ensuring adherence to design plans, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Identify risks or issues in project execution and implement timely corrective actions.
- Maintain consistent and effective communication with project managers, project engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Interpret and enforce contract documents, project specifications, and technical drawings.
- Promote a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
- Document jobsite activities, incidents, and progress through daily reports and regular updates.
- Represent the company professionally while coordinating with clients, vendors, and external partners.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of subcontractors and site labor teams during the construction phase.
- Indirect oversight of civil and electrical crews to ensure site productivity and quality performance.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of general construction management experience, with at least 3 years in solar construction projects of 3-10 MW scale.
- Demonstrated knowledge of civil and electrical construction, solar PV systems, project logistics, and safety procedures.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings, specifications, and project plans.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- NABCEP PVIP certification preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently and stay on-site throughout the duration of projects.
