Job Description

InteRebar Fabrications is seeking a Shear Operator in its New Castle, DE fabrication shop. This individual is responsible for the setup and operation of its automatic shearing machines that cut steel rebar to specified lengths as part of the fabrication process. This role is critical to efficient production and quality control within our rebar fabrication shop.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation

Set up, operate, and monitor rebar shearing equipment according to work orders and shop instructions.

Verify bar sizes, lengths, and batch requirements before cutting.

Select appropriate settings for bar size, cut length, and quantity.

Material Handling

Load straight rebar stock safely onto the shear machine using hand tools, cranes, or hoists as required.

Remove cut bars and organize them for further fabrication (bending, bundling, etc.).

Quality Control

Measure and inspect cut pieces to ensure adherence to length and tolerance specifications.

Report or correct any non-conforming product.

Efficiency and Safety

Monitor machine operation for proper function and safe performance.

Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.

Follow all company safety and production policies and procedures.

Documentation

Accurately record production output, scrap, and downtime using both scanners and physical paperwork.

Complete all quality or safety checklists as assigned.
